How To Handle A Tough Question Paper ?

In our lifetime we all have faced different exams, sometimes the question paper is very easy and sometimes it is very tough. If paper comes easy then we all get happy and clear it easily but if the paper comes tough then the situation is totally different. In such case some students get passed while other get failed. But most of the times the reason behind getting failed in a tough exam is not our lack of preparation instead the reason behind it is that how we handle that particular exam. So this article deals with the tricks and tactics of handling a tough question paper and here mainly we focus on subjective paper. So if you are looking for the tips to handle a tough objective exam then you can read our other article.

As we have already discussed in our previous article "How to clear board exams (Weak Students)" that for getting passed in any examination the first thing we need is positive attitude. Positive attitude is needed in any examination whether it is a class test, board exams, organizational exams, competitive exams, interviews etc. So if you do not face an exam with positive attitude, then surely you would not get the results that you want. So believing in your abilities is must for clearing any exam. So here are some tips that you can follow if a paper comes tough:

Relax Yourself:

This is the most important thing because when we appear in an examination with proper preparation but the question paper comes very tough then sometimes we lose our confidence by just reading the paper once. We start thinking that how would we get passed, this paper is very tough etc. So first thing you should try when you get a paper in your hand which looks tough at the first sight is to Calm Your Nerves and then read the question paper again. Search the questions that you can answer properly or even partially because in tough exams every mark counts. We assure you that when you read the paper with your cool and calm head then you will definitely see some questions that you can answer.

There is a saying , "if you are in dark and not able to see the way then you can pass through it in two ways :
  • Whether lighten up your way to pass through it.
  • Or wait for sometime to see the way to pass through it."

Build Confidence:

The next step is to build confidence in yourself, you can do this by thinking about the things that can motivate you like think about any previous examination where you were thinking that you could not get passed but you passed that exam, think about the things that you have done to pass that exam (We are not talking about cheating), we are talking about the steps and tactics that you have used to clear that particular exam. Believe in yourself, believe in your abilities, think positive, think you can clear that exam. Motivate yourself by saying that i can do this, i can handle this situation, this is not the toughest exam etc. Building confidence is necessary for handling such exams.

Selecting The Questions:

This is our next objective, after relaxing and building up enough confidence now you are ready for this step. So look through your question paper and select the question that you can answer properly and then the questions that you can answer partially and at last select the questions whose answers you don't know and try to answer them. Arrange them priority wise means if you can answer two questions properly then see the total marks for both the question, suppose if first question is of 10 marks and the second question is of 5 marks then answer the 10 marks question first because our mind is fresh at the start of the examination.

Read And Understand The Questions:

Before answering any question read the question properly because understanding of a question is must. If you will not read a question properly then there might be a 10% chances that you loose some points about it and hence you loose some marks too.

Take Some Time Before Answering:

Don't take it in a wrong way, take some time before answering a particular question. Think about what i am going to write, on which points and keywords i have to focus etc. This will help you to give your 100% in an answer. While you will be writing your answer always think from your mind and write from your heart, this sounds awkward but this line has much bigger meaning, if you write from your heart then you will be presenting your answer in best possible way. In simple words use your brain to give each and every important point about answer, try to give all facts and figures in your answer, and write them in best possible way which includes clean and good handwriting, draw nice diagrams etc. Here our motive is to get the maximum marks in the question for which we know the answers.

Try To Attempt All The Questions:

This is the last step in this process, try to give answers for all the questions whether you know the answers for them or you don't know. Try to relate the question with what you know, never think what teachers or others will think if you write a wrong answer. If you write an answer only then there will be a possibility of getting an extra mark otherwise if you don't write then you will be loosing your full marks that is there is no possibility of getting a single mark. So be smart and try to get every single mark. A single mark can save you from getting failed in exam, so try to give answers for each and every question.

All The Best ツ
